Ward Andrews
Safety Director, Wilson Construction Company
A safety professional with Wilson
Construction Company since 1992, Mr. Andrews previously spent twelve
years as a journeyman lineman constructing electrical distribution
and transmission lines. Mr. Andrew's extensive credentials include
safety instructor and "train the trainer" ratings. In
addition to his work at Wilson, Mr. Andrews serves as an instructor
for the industry apprenticeship program as well as represents the
industry on boards and commissions throughout the Wes tern United
States. |

Martin Brown
Occupational Safety and Health Consultant
He has over 35 years of experience in industrial safety and
health. Recently retired from the Consultation and Education
Program, WISHA Division, Washington State Department of Labor and
Industries. Mr. Brown continues to share his expertise in this
field with employers and employees through consultations and
training seminars. He is a Past President of the Puget Sound Chapter
of American Society Safety Engineers. He is currently appointed to
represent the Chapter on the State of Washington Governor's
Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board. |
Mike Brown
Past Advisory
Board President and President ILWU Local 24
Mr. Brown has been a longshoreman for 29
years. He served as Vice President for the ILWU Local 24 for 9 years
before becoming President in 2003. He has been a safety committee
man for 5 years and was appointed to the Governor's Industrial
Safety and Health Advisory Board representing the Maritime industry
in 2000. Mr. Brown is dedicated to keeping a safe and accident free
waterfront environment. He has also helped the Port of Grays Harbor
develop a rail-safety program for their new grain facility. He is
currently serving his second term on the Governor's Industrial
Safety and Health Advisory board. |

Buman
Field Coordinator, Laborers' Tri Funds
Mr. Buman has 13 years experience in
construction with a focus on underground utilities, hazardous waste
remediation, and demolition and is a licensed UST Decommissioner. He
also has 3 years experience as an Emergency Medical Technician and
served as the Cub Master & Chartered Organization Representative
with the Boys Scouts of America, Cub Scout Pack 524, from 1998-2002.
Mr. Buman attended college in Iowa for two years with a teaching
major. |
Stephanie Carter
Adjunct Lecturer, Central Washington
University
Ms. Carter has previous experience in
coordinating the Industrial Hygiene activities for the Mechanical
Engineering Division of Exxon Company, USA, Baton Rouge, LA. She is
also a member of the AIHA since 1990 and served in several positions
with the Publications committee from 2000-2003. She was also a
member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial
Hygienists from 1989-2004, and has been a certified Industrial
Hygienist since 1994. |
Rick Case

Mr. Case has worked in Security Management since 1986. He
supervises security staff and is the Chair of the Safety Committee
and Emergency Preparedness for Evergreen Healthcare. He is
experienced in working with emergency management, in both federal
and state. Mr. Case is also the 2001 Lew Brown award recipient for
safety achievements. Mr. Case also served in the U.S. Marine Corps,
Camp Pendleton, CA. |

Mr. D'Hondt has been employed with Absher
Construction for the past 14 years and has 20+ years of experience
in the construction industry. He is a member of the Associated
General Contractors and is currently serving as the Southern
District Vice President, as well as serving on the Board of

Kirk Hayfield

Mr. Hayfield has been in the Electric Utility Industry for 29
years and Safety and Health for the Electric and Gas Industry
since 1991. He worked as a High Voltage Safety Inspector for the WA
Dept. of Labor and Industries for 5 years. He is a member and
past-president of the Inland Northwest Chapter of the American
Society of Safety Engineers, which covers the eastern counties of
WA. He has been involved in the Sheriff’s Community
Orientated Policing Effort (SCOPE) in Spokane. SCOPE is
designed to have active volunteers in neighborhoods to help educate
and involve community members in reducing property and personnel
crimes. |

Mr. Heuer serves as the President of the
Woodworkers IAM LL W-536, and as an Associate Instructor for IAM/CREST.
He has been a member of the Governor's Industrial Safety and Health
Advisory Board since 2000, and also serves as trustee with the
Washington Machinist Council Executive Board. In addition, Mr. Heuer
also serves on the Lower Columbia College Board of Trustees,

10 years, and National Ski Patrol since 1965. Member of the PNW
section of American Industrial Hygiene Association and past
president. Mr. Hollingsworth is also member of American Welding
Society, and is affiliated with the Metals Panel/Governor's
Occupational Safety and Health Board since 1965 and now an emeritus
board member. |

Mr. La Rocque has been employed with the
City of Tacoma since 1995 and previously worked for the Port of
Seattle, WA Dept. of Labor and Industries, and for
Environmental Conservation State of Vermont. He is a member of the
Pacific Northwest Section of the American Industrial Hygiene
Association and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Castleton
State College, Castleton, Vermont. |

Mr. Lutz has 27 years experience in the Agriculture community including
operation and ownership of 100 acres of treefruit and 160 acres of
dry land wheat. He also has 10 years experience in the private and public sector
regarding workplace safety & health, environmental and personnel
issues regarding pesticide applications under commercial consulting
and operations. Mr. Lutz also has training as a Safety and Health
Specialist; Evergreen Safety Council. |

Mr. Masco has 27 years vehicle and equipment fleet management and
maintenance in both private and public sectors. His assignments

Mr. Maxey has 18 years experience as a Loss
Control Consultant for Farmers Insurance Group working with
commercial accounts helping them develop their Safety and Risk
Management Programs. He worked 2 1/2 years as a Safety Administrator
for Bigge Drayagn in San Leandro, CA, and 13 years with the
California Highway Patrol working in Los Angeles, Oakland Bay Area
and the San Joaquin Valley. He holds a B.A. degree from San Jose

Sharon Ness

Ms. Ness has been a Registered Nurse for
the past 34 years. She is also a Contract Negotiator and Lobbyist
for Registered Nurses and other Healthcare Workers, and received the
Pierce County, Nurse of the year award in 1984. Ms. Ness is an
AFL-CIO Safety and Health Certified Instructor. She has participated
on the Ergonomic, Bloodborne Pathogens, Tuberculosis and Workplace
Violence Prevention Task Force for WISHA and is a Labor
Representative on the WISHA Advisory Committee. She is also an ACLS
Certified Provider, a member of the Pierce County Health Services
Career Council, and serves on the Pierce County Labor Council
Community Services Committee. She participates annually with the
United Way Executive Day of Caring and the American Cancer Society
Relay for Life, and is also a member of the Red Hat Society. |

Jim Schick
Safety Director for
University Mechanical Contractors, Seattle
Mr. Schick served in the U.S. Coast Guard and then went on to work
in a steel mill where he witnessed a workplace fatality. Subsequent
to that tragic event he became the Safety Manager at that very steel
mill. He continues advocating workplace safety and has been an
active member of the Advisory Board since 2000. |

Ms. Thomsen is currently employed as the
Safety Manager with Stemilt Growers, Inc. She holds a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing from the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing
Education, Washington State University, and is a Registered Nurse
and a Medic First Aid/CPR Instructor. Ms. Thomsen is also a member
of North Central WA Quilt Guild, serving as Library Committee Member
since 2004, a member of Native Daughters of the WA Territorial
Pioneers, and also serves on the Governor's Industrial Safety &
Health Advisory Board representing the Food & Beverage
Processing/Handling Panel & Forklift Rodeo Panel. |
Jeff Waldron

Mr. Waldron has been with Tesoro for 17 years. He Demonstrates
leadership abilities in a teamwork environment with Contractor
Safety Council and Western States Petroleum Association.
Co-Chair and chair of the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health
Petroleum panel (2002 and 2003). He became a Certified Safety
Professional in 1999, and is a Member of the American Society of
Safety Engineers. |
Jerry
Wallace
Wallace Technical Blasting - President
& Owner
Mr. Wallace has extensive experience in Logging,
Construction and Surface Mining since 1966. He holds licenses to
use/handle explosives in WA, OR, AK, and CA. He is the Technical
Vice President for International Society of Explosives Engineers. He
is also currently serving as a member of the Technical Committee for
the European Federation of Explosives Engineers and is assisting in
putting together the 3rd World Conference on Explosives and Blasting
Techniques to be held in Brighton, England, September 2005.
Additionally he has authored and presented papers at two World
Conferences and several national blasting conferences, and is a
contributing author to the 17th Edition Blasters Handbook. He is
also a co-instructor, UW Engineering Professional Programs, Drilling
and Blasting Techniques for Quarries and Construction from
1999-Present. |
